2025 Delta Petition

Governor Newsom and the California Legislators,

We urge you to focus on California water solutions, that:

• Protect communities, habitat, residents, and regional health.

• Create new sources of water, such as improved stormwater and wastewater recycling.

• Are ecologically and fiscally sustainable into the future.

The Delta Tunnel project has none of these attributes.
California must be smarter in preparing for climate change.

The tunnel project would cause irreparable harm to a critical yet fragile ecosystem, damage local communities and economies, and most importantly — does not create new, sustainable water sources. Even if this costly, destructive tunnel were built, Californians would still need to fund other projects that actually address our state’s water needs. Future generations will be on the hook to pay for this boondoggle and all other projects. The tunnel will do no good if the future is, in fact, hotter and drier as you keep saying it will be.

Let’s use our precious resources to develop and fund sustainable solutions for a healthy future. I add my name to the growing list of California residents, groups, and businesses saying, NO TO THE DESTRUCTIVE DELTA TUNNEL PROJECT!
